And a moment for the coverrrrr…

One of my favorite newsletter perks! The place where I tell you something bonkers that happened to me. I’m a big Rupi Kaur fan—her writing is so special… something that I’ve gone back to time and time again to reread. I was in Mexico with some friends, living my best all inclusive resort life. It’s later in the day, I’ve had about 9 passionfruit margs, and there’s a group of women trying to get their friend in the pool. I get it: it’s the end of the day and kind of cold. So, naturally, I interject myself into a situation that needed nothing from me.

“Once you get your n!pples in, you’re completely fine!” I yell over my kindle (binging something by Rachel Reid). The girls laugh and use it to cheer their friend on.

This beauty gets in the water, her friends thank me, and then when she walks by, it hits the drunk version of myself… hard. THAT IS RUPI KAUR. I own all of her work. I’ve had to buy multiple copies. I’m obsessed with her.

Immediately. I start to cry. LOL. I tell my non-reading friends about it, and one of them yells RUPI to see if she looks (she does) and then they convince me to go introduce myself. I do. I swoon over her words. She is so kind. She tells me that it’s impressive I write full novels. We chat for about 10 minutes and then I leave the girls to do their thing. When I’m swimming back to my group, I hear them hyping her up because of how much I swooned over her.

And that’s how I met one of my idols, on accident, in another country… and I was shouting about her n!pples.

• It’s getting cold in Michigan and I’m about to be thriving. As an autoimmune girly with horrific skin issues, the sun and sweat is my nemesis. I feel like I’m finally myself in the fall and winter… also that reverse seasonal depression is almost gone and I’M FEELING SO MUCH BETTER (just now have the regular depression lololol)
